Slow Space

Brand, Environment, Digital

Slow Space is a conceptual public place, much like a park or museum, intended to help people retreat from the busy world and slow down.

It is inspired by the Slow Movement, which encourages intentional moments, contentment, and quality over quantity. Slow Space is a model for cities to create places where people can pause, linger, and relax. In this concept, Slow Space repurposes a former shopping mall in NYC.

Drawing from the meditative, waving lines in zen gardens, the brand for Slow Space uses five lines to represent the different areas within the space.

3D Model + Renderings

To better visualize Slow Space and the experience of being in it, I created a model showing each area and floor. From this model, renderings were created to bring the meditative and nature-filled aesthetics of the space to life.

Slow Space integrates nature both within and without to form an atmosphere of calm. Several floors of space provide ample room for a variety of needs, from social areas to completely private rooms. A portion of each floor is cut away to allow light to fill the space.
